The term ‘natural’ is bandied around on all manner of products nowadays, some less convincingly so than others. Which is why we were refreshed to come across Ruby Red, a small British company that specialises in creating natural products in the very truest sense. The company is the brain child of husband and wife team Mike and Martine Ruby who were inspired to start the company after spending time travelling South East Asia. All products are plant based and free from harsh chemicals, parabens and synthetics. The botanical make-up of the range makes it perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. The plant ingredients are also proven to deliver the benefits where they are needed most – below the skin’s surface to actively improve skin health and appearance. Our favourite is the Smoothing Body Scrub, rich in Vitamins A, B and E, the Dead Sea Salt gently exfoliates which encourages regeneration of new skin cells whilst a blend of organic oils nourishes the skin leaving it looking plump and radiant. Red Mandarin, lemon and cedarwood oil means it smells divine and using it feels like a lovely spa treat. The scrub is also perfect for softening up those dry areas like elbows and feet – especially handy if you are topping up your Winter tan from a bottle!

Organic Pharmacy Rose BalmContinuing the natural theme, last week The London Luxe popped down to one of our favourite stores, The Organic Pharmacy to sip champagne and hear all about the release of their new wonder product which we have to agree is worth celebrating! The Rose Balm is a rich multipurpose soothing salve that works just as well on dry skin, lips, hair or nails.  The balm is packed full of plant oils from argan and pomegranate to rose hip and calendula to nourish and repair you wherever you need it. The Organic Pharmacy list at least 20 possible uses for the Rose Balm, from calming unruly locks and strengthening eyelashes to good old fashion lip balm… we reckon this could be 2013’s answer to Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream!

Rose Balm £25, 10ml

This week sees the influential theatre director Robert Lepage’s latest offering Playing Cards: Spades open at Camden’s Roundhouse. The eagerly anticipated production is the first in a planned series of four plays, each shaped around one suit in a deck of cards. This first part looks set to be the darkest as it explores the theme of war set in the desert city of Las Vegas at the time of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. Lepage is one of the most important forces in theatre, revered both for one-man classics and for masterminding huge productions such as Cirque du Soleil and the recent Peter Gabriel tour. Commissioned to play in a network of 360-degree performance spaces around the world, Spades has been created specifically for the Roundhouse and makes stunning use of Lepage’s trademark theatrical wizardry.
